Free barcode generator
A barcode turns a value into a pattern a scanner can read. Start with the value you need to encode, choose the right barcode format and check the result before printing labels.
Creating an image is not the same as assigning a product number. This tool does not register a product, create a retailer listing or grant the right to use a number someone else has been assigned.
Choose a format that matches the destination
| Format | Data represented | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| UPC-A | 12 digits including the check digit | An assigned retail GTIN-12 |
| EAN-13 | 13 digits including the check digit | An assigned retail GTIN-13 |
| Code 128 | Numeric and ASCII data using its code sets | An identifier your receiving system accepts |
| Code 39 | Uppercase letters, digits and a limited symbol set | A system that specifically uses Code 39 |
| ISBN barcode | A valid ISBN-13 represented as EAN-13 | The ISBN assigned to that edition and format |
A label for your own shelves does not automatically need a retail GTIN. Internal identifiers can use Code 128 if your scanner and inventory software support it.
